Clashes between the communities of Duu and Kinkandina in the Northern Region have left one person dead.
The West Mamprusi District Chief Executive, Adam Banablesera Yussif confirmed the incident to Joy News.
He said the clashes were precipitated by a misunderstanding resulting from the multiple marrying of an unnamed woman.
Mr Yussif explained that the woman in question, already married to a man in Kinkandina, got married to another man in the Duu community.
The elders of the community insisted that the woman be returned to her former husband in Kinkandina because there exist some relationship between the two communities that prevent them from confiscating each others' wives.
According to the DCE, the party from Duu which returned the eloped wife was waylaid and attacked resulting in the death of one person.
That, he said, angered the people of Duu who started marching on Kinkandina.
The DCE said some houses belonging to the Kinkandina community were torched.
Police intervention has brought about some calm in the area, he stated.
