Members of the Civil and Local Government Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) in the Ashanti region are returning to work after two weeks of industrial action.
The region joined in the nationwide strike declared on October 31, 2012.
A statement signed by CLOGSAG Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe-Addo on Wednesday announced that the nationwide strike has been called-off following a meeting between interested parties.
The National Labour Commission (NLC) is mediating between CLOGSAG and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission for an amicable resolution of the impasse.
Kojo Atuahene, the Ashanti Regional Organizer of CLOGSAG, told Luv Fm that the Association respects the Labour Law and hopes that the concerns of its members will be addressed “as soon as possible.”
He said that a circular instructing members to resume work has been dispatched to the local unions.
CLOGSAG has been demanding the payment of their market premium after their migration to the Single Spine Salary Structure.
