Two drivers, Alhassan George and Sagoe Latif, based in Cape Coast, were on Friday, fined a total of GH¢200 by a Cape Cost Circuit Court for using worn out tyres on their vehicles and endangering the lives of others.
The two pleaded guilty, and were each fined GH¢100 or in default, would go to prison for a month each.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that, on May 6, between 0800 and 1100 hours, the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) in collaboration with the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), while on patrol, intercepted the two at Siwudu, a suburb of Cape Coast and upon inspection of their vehicles, it was detected that both vehicles had worn out tyres.
