Deputy Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Leonard Edwards on Wednesday called on President John Atta Mills at the Osu Castle in Accra where the two nations renewed their commitment to each other for mutual partnerships in the interest of their peoples.
President Mills commended the genuine Canadian interest in Ghana, and said whatever Canada was doing for Ghana emanated from best motives.
Describing himself as friend of Canada, President Mills recalled different forms of Canadian assistance to Ghana in fields of education and diplomacy.
He also acknowledged with thanks Ottawa's assistance to Accra in the development of water boreholes when some Ghanaians were unwilling to go to the hinterlands where their expertise was mostly needed.
The President expressed appreciation for Canada's pioneering role in a number of areas in Ghana.
Mr. Edwards, for his part, said Canada valued her relationship with Ghana.
He announced that Canada had an outreach programme with Africa, and Ghana was part of that programme adding, his country would maintain its fine relationship with Ghana.Source: GNA
