A Deputy Information Minister, Nana Ama Dokua, has promised to set up a special fund for the total rehabilitation of the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, (TQMH) at Mampong Akuapem, a municipal referral hospital in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The Deputy Minister who also doubles as the Member of Parliament was shocked at the state of disrepair of the once vibrant health care center for patients in and around Akuapem.
"I ve been briefed about the challenges facing this memorial hospital but I never dreamt that the situation is that horrifying in here"
"Come to think of it that some beds are as old as 50years?"
The Deputy Minister made these remarks during her visit to the hospital maternity ward in commemoration of the Mother's Day event that fell on Sunday 14 May.
She promised to set up the fund to garner resources from all the corners of the world towards a massive rehabilitation of TQMH.

The newly confirmed MCE for the Akuapem North Municipality, Dennis Aboagye, who joined the MP on her interactions with patients at the hospital also added his voice to the call for something to be done about the deplorable conditions at the health centre.
Mr Aboagye in a media interview said the hospital has completely lost shine and glamour, a situation he said was completely unacceptable.
"All the necessary networks will be activated to ensure that this special fund for TQMH will be come to fruition sooner than later" he noted.
The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Alfred Benneh in his welcome remarks decried the poor conditions at the hospital facilities and lauded the Deputy Minister and the MCE for their kind assurances and prayed that this wonderful initiative will yield the needed fruits.
Dr Benneh said the hospital has the potential of becoming a tertiary hospital in the near future if the basic facilities needed by the hospital are provided.
The two political heads, Nana Ama Dokua and Aboagye presented assorted breakfast to the mothers at the maternity ward.
