The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public to desist from acts of violence as the country awaits the official declaration of the presidential results of the general election.
Addressing the press on Monday, December 9, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi warned that perpetrators of the violent acts will be made to face the law when caught.
"We would like to use this opportunity to caution persons to desist from such acts of violence, as the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to face justice."

This follows some violent incidents with three deaths recorded in the just-ended general elections.
The police noted that 89 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with various offences, adding that 40 of these suspects are directly connected to acts of vandalism, looting, and destruction of property.
"All these suspects are in custody and will be taken through the due process of the law," she added.

Additionally, the police noted that measures have been implemented to ensure safety and security in the post-election period.
These measures include increased visibility through intensified patrols, intelligence-led operations within communities to identify and apprehend perpetrators of violence, static security at key state facilities, and ongoing engagement with government officials and stakeholders.
The police assured the public of its commitment to preserving peace and urged citizens to support efforts to maintain stability during this critical period.
