Read below a distress mail from a Ghanaian who identifies himself simply as Kwabena, claiming he and other compatriots are behind bars for overstaying their visas.
Dear Kojo,
Kindly use your media to inform Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghanaians are behind bars in China.
We over stayed and for that matter we are wrong. We want to come back home.
We have our ticket and the money to pay for the overstay penalty but Ghanaians are being arrested and put behind bars whenever people go to the Chinese immigration offices.
If I may ask, is it the same elsewhere or only in China and how about the Chinese walking on the streets of Accra?
Please the government should help us. We want to come home.
In case you need more details please call (number withheld).
We contacted Ghana embassy several times nothing good came out of it.
Thank you.
Kwabena (Guangzhou China).
