Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has advised the youth not to see politics as a means of making money but rather a means of improving society.
According to him, the youth must equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and finance before stepping to politics.
This, the former President explained, will help them stay away from bribery and corruption.
Speaking at the induction of 30 scholars recruited for the Kufour Scholars Program on leadership and mentoring, he said “I am telling you not to try and cut corners to make headway. I didn’t come by money through politics, I hinted that I was born into privilege.”
He explained that it is essential for the youth to keep their integrity while working to serve the community and not make money off the people.
The former President who doubles as the Chairman of the Kufuor Foundation added that if people are not from a wealthy background, they should assume that going into politics will make them wealthy.
“You want to do good work in politics, you needn’t be corrupted, do your work well but always knowing how to live within your limit.”
