The Ejisu-Juabeng Municipal Assembly says it is not ready to negotiate the renewal of a tenancy agreement with the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB).
The Bank has been accused of reneging in the renewing of an agreement on the occupancy of the assembly’s property.
A claim the bank has vehemently denied.
Municipal Chief Executive, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko says the Assembly will “take all necessary steps” to repossess the property, though he will not tell when.
“The Assembly is the bonafide owner of that particular property… and I think the time has come for the Assembly to take possession of the said property to go into a venture that will benefit the Assembly”, he emphasized.
The MCE says the retake of the property is in the interest of the people in the municipality.
Mr. Yamoah Ponko told Luv Biz Report the decision is final and there is presently no room for negotiation on the property.
“All necessary steps are going to be taken to retake our property and I am bent on doing that and I’ll do that”, he stated.
The Ghana Commercial Bank had been negotiating for an outright purchase of the property which it has occupied for the past 47 years.
