Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has called on eligible voters to register and cast their votes during this year’s general election.
He said by so doing, the electorate would not only honour their civil responsibilities but would also ensure that they also participated in the decision-making process of the nation’s democratic dispensation.
The Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso was speaking at the opening session of three-day national delegates’ Assembly of Young Adults’ Fellowship (YAF) of the Church at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi at the weekend.
Some 500 delegates were attending the Assembly under the theme: “Let us go unto Maturity Christ in You the Hope of Glory”.
“It is important that we all realize the importance of our youth in the new democratic dispensation. We need our youth to actually play a leading role in our nation-building, particularly since they form the bedrock of the nation’s development and leadership”.
“You must be a beacon of light to all our young people in this nation to learn of what a vibrant, dedicated and patriotic youth should be,” he stressed.
The Rt. Rev, Dr. Frimpong-Manso said the nation needed a very strong and vigorous working youth policy.
Mr. Bernard Adinkrah, National President of YAF, noted that as young adults they had a lot to offer the Church adding that like Jesus Christ, they could change things in the Church and in society with their youth exuberance.
In a welcoming address, Rev. Otuo Acheampong, Asante Presbytery Chairperson appealed to the leaders of YAF to demonstrate leadership styles without which the group cannot move on smoothly.
“Any member who is guilty of error or hypocrisy must be opposed. We should correct one another without partiality or favour because all of us will one day stand in the presence of God to give account of our stewardship.”
