For a great day out, visit the family-run Rosemary Hill where organic farming has been practiced for the past 35 years. Admire over 30 000 trees and shrubs, potter around the nursery and enjoy an authentic high tea of freshly baked scones, cakes, sandwiches and other goodies.
For a delightful day out, take yourself off to Rosemary Hill, just 10 minutes from Pretoria, and see where organic farming has been practiced for over 3 decades.
This family-run organic farm prides itself on its welcoming and eco-friendly hospitality where you can potter around the nursery brimming with plants from which essential oils are distilled, nibble some home grown pecan nuts or simply admire over 30 000 fragrant trees and shrubs.
But no visit to Rosemary Hill should exclude high tea (prior booking is essential). You'll feast on cucumber and mint sandwiches, biltong and peppadew tartlets, wholegrain bread cups with salmon and caper berries, mini pancakes with chicken terrine, rosewater-glazed scones with cream and jam, custard-filled filo pastries, decadent cupcakes and creamy coffee chocolate mousse. Choose between 10 different brands of tea, or opt for coffee and a fresh fruit juice.
Before or after tea, take time to wander round the fragrant maze and breathe in aromas from over 3 000 plants, including lavender, rosemary and African potato.
If you feel the need to work off those recently acquired calories, you can follow a variety of mountain bike, running or hiking trails through fields of rosemary, over streams and dams, and though indigenous vegetation. Choose a 6km, 10km or 18km trail.
And if you’re thinking of tying that knot, Rosemary Hill hosts traditional farm weddings, which, as the farm says, 'won’t break the bank' and will leave you with wonderful memories.
