The management of the Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education in Amedzofe in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, has lamented the lingering infrastructure deficit of the institution.
The Principal, Dr. Dickson Tsey indicated that the College needs an ultra-modern auditorium and its access and inner campus roads developed to uplift its status.
He was speaking at the matriculation ceremony for 240 students admitted for the 2023/2024 academic year.
He explained that the school’s population has outgrown the assembly hall which has a sitting capacity of 250.
“It is such a depressing issue for the College because currently, the college has a total population of 1,096. The situation needs an urgent attention”, he lamented.
Dr. Tsey said an architectural design and bills of quantity for the construction of an auditorium have been prepared, hence management seeks funding to commence construction works in earnest.
“I want to, therefore, use the opportunity to appeal to the government, the alumni, individuals, and other stakeholders to help construct a befitting auditorium for the College”, he appealed.
He further indicated that “secondly, we want to use the opportunity once again to remind the government to help us construct the road leading to the College and the internal roads which are not in good shape.”

Out of 742 applicants, 240 were enrolled to pursue a Bachelor of Education, Junior High School Education; Bachelor of Education, French; Bachelor of Education, Upper Primary; and Bachelor of Education, Early Grade.

Dr. Tsey said that females constituted 52% of the total number admitted, in line with the institution’s Gender-Inclusive Policy.
“The College continues with its policy of giving opportunities of tertiary education to women through the Gender-Inclusive Policy which we have been great advocates of as well as applicants from less endowed schools”, he said.
He added that opportunities were given to applicants who excelled in sporting disciplines during their second cycle education to enhance the College’s performance at sports festivals.
Dr. Tsey announced that a scholarship scheme has been instituted for well-performing students to promote academic competition and excellence among the student body.
“It is the conviction of management that this Scheme will serve as a catalyst to help you [students] to be more serious and raise the image of the College higher in all fields of endeavors”, he said.
Dr. Tsey implored the freshmen and women to be dedicated to their academic work and strive for excellence in all their ventures in and out of the College community.
The College furnished the female hostel with a ten-seater modern toilet facility to enhance sanitation on the campus.
