he FDB has cautioned the general public about a “fake” brand of condoms, PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED, on the market.
The fake PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED condom was imported by Orackie Enterprise, Kumasi and had no manufacturer’s name or address though information on the packaging indicated that the product was manufactured in China, a release by the FDB and signed by its Chief Executive, Dr Stephen K. Opuni, has said.
“The fake condom did not meet the acceptable standard when tested at the laboratory and therefore its safety cannot be guaranteed by the FDB.
“The public is hereby being advised to desist from using the said fake PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED condom since the use of unsafe condoms could lead to contraction of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV AIDS.”
The general public has therefore been advised to report to the nearest FDB Office anyone found stocking, distributing or retailing the unregistered and fake PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED condoms.
Pharmacies, Licensed Chemical Shops, Supermarkets and all other outlets having in stock the said fake PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED condom have also been asked by the FDB to kindly return them to the supplier or the nearest FDB office.
“The FDB has meanwhile seized a consignment of the said PREVENTIVE PLUS DOTTED condom pending further investigations and subsequent destruction to be supervised by the FDB.”
The Board reassured the general public of its readiness in ensuring their health and safety at all times.
