Controversy is said to be brewing between the Northern Regional Police Command and family of late  Rev. Fr. Kelvin Abakisi who died by hanging on a rope suicide a few weeks ago.

Following an autopsy, the police ruled the death as a suicide but the family has rejected the claim saying the police should have done their investigations thoroughly before putting out that false report.

Speaking to Joy News’ correspondent, Martina Bugri, spokesperson for the family Moses Asekabta, revealed that the police failed to invite family members to the scene of the incident.

Mr.Asekabta also doubted that the deceased priest committed suicide since the he (priest) could not have scaled the height from which he (deceased) hanged alone.

“We went in there we did not see anything for him to use in scaling that height, we did not see a table, we did not see a chair,” the spokesperson said.

They are therefore asking the police to launch  an independent  investigation into the matter.

But Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northern Regional Police Command, Ebenezer Tetteh stated categorically that the police report  is based on official autopsy results that rules the priests death as suicide.

Mr.Tetteh is therefore urging the family to go for a second autopsy if they doubt the initial one.

Until his demise, Rev. Fr. Kelvin Abakisi was a priest who served at the St. Victor’s Seminary at Malshegu, a suburb in the Northern Region.

He died six weeks after being posted there.
