Grieving residents of Doffor-Adidome, a fishing community along the Volta River where three people died on Saturday night when their boat capsized, are angry with the Ghana Maritime Authority and officials of the local Assembly.
The residents accuse the authorities for paying lip service to promises to monitor operations on the Volta Lake.
The incident is said to have occurred when the canoe carrying seven passengers from Doffor-Adidome to Volivo in Osudoku was caught in a severe storm.
Three persons; two teenage including a pregnant teenage mother and a man died in the accident. Among the four who survived was a baby whose mother was among the dead.
The deceased were identified as 19 year old Mary Dorsoo, 18 year old Joyce Akligo who was said to be pregnant and Samuel Kuwordzi who was said to be in his 30’s
Their have been deposited at the Hospital and the police are investigating the incident.
