The Ghana Democratic Floating Voters Association has written an open letter to National Security asking it to investigate how political parties in Ghana fund their activities especially during elections.
The letter, which was originally sent to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday appealed to National Security to investigate an allegation that the funding source of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo’s 2008 presidential ambition was illegal.
It said: “The Association is worried as already the NPP leadership has declared the up-coming 2012 polls as a Gorilla Warfare”.
The letter said already the NPP’s August election spent approximately four million dollars between Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr Alan Kyeremanten, who also contested for the flagbearer of the party for the 2012 elections.
“...Our question is, where is the money coming from,” the Association asked.
“We are counting on you the National Security to protect our fragile democracy by ensuring that politicians don’t double as drug barons or are not bed-fellows with drug barons.’
