National Youth Organizer hopeful and former Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North, George Opare Addo has successfully filed his nomination in a bid to lead the Youth Wing of opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The two-time MCE submitted his forms on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Adabraka.
Speaking to the media after the filing of the nomination, Mr Opare Addo popularly known as Pablo was upbeat about his chances of being elected National Youth Organizer of the NDC.
“I am very optimistic that the delegates of our party will endorse my bid massively come October 20. The delegates of our party have never made a mistake when it comes to electing officers of the party and I know with what I have presented, they will come out to vote for me massively”, he said.
The successful entrepreneur is contesting the position with three others- Elikem Kotoko, Brogya Genfi and Wonder Madilo.
Asked about his message to delegates, Mr Opare Addo indicated that his campaign message was developed after broad consultation with the rank and file of the party. According to him, that is what inspired the “Pablo Project”, the headline of his campaign message.
“I think that we need to focus on making the Youth Wing a bit more attractive to young people and that will come when we position the party to focus more on young people and their needs. This will mean certain structures and processes must be relooked at. We have done a lot of consultations and that is what forms the Pablo Project that I wish to spearhead when elected.”
The Pablo Project is a summary of policies and plan that address challenges Opare Addo found out on his tour of the country. It focuses on Empowerment of the Youth, Resource Mobilization, TEIN Drive and the creation of a Social Democratic Center.
According to the aspirant, the Pablo Project is intended to empower and mobilize resources and youth to send the party back to the Flagstaff.
The occasion was graced by Eastern Regional Executives, as well as regional and constituency youth organizers across the country.
George Opare Addo holds a degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Ghana. He also holds an Executive Masters in Governance & Leadership from GIMPA as well as an LLB from the same institution. He is currently a Bachelor of Law candidate at the Ghana School of Law.
