The Vice President of the African Court of Human and Peoples Rights has condemned the recent attacks and killings of Fulani herdsmen and their relations in Gushegu.13 Fulanis were murdered in the massacre with several others sustaining varying degrees of injuries.Justice Sophia Akuffo who is also a Supreme Court judge is unhappy residents there took the law in their own hands and failed to respect the rights of nomads.Justice Akuffo told Joy News Ghana must uphold its good human rights record which is globally recognized.“Rule of law broke down in that particular situation. The people decided to throw the law aside and take it into their own hands as they pleased. They didn’t according to the law. They are not police men; they are not the state executioners. People have to be begin to be more respectful,” she stated.No matter the offence committed by anybody Justice Akufo insisted nobody has the right to take the law into his or her own hands.
