Information Reaching Joy News indicates a group from the Kokomba community in the Northern Region has Thursday morning attacked some Fulani herdsmen seeking shelter in a Kokomba community in the Gushiegu District capital, Naburi.
District Chief Executive for Gushiegu, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan, confirmed the situation to Joy News.
According to him a combined security team deployed into the area after the earlier attack have been sent there to control the situation.
He said a section of the community resisted the attempts to attack the Fulani and that spared the lives of herdsmen. Their cattle were however killed. The attackers vented their anger on the animals killing them indiscriminately.
Alhaji Alhassan said the attackers have also vowed to attack the community protecting the Fulanis if they continue shielding them.
That situation, he said, has raised some tension in the area necessitating security presence there.
Meanwhile seven more suspects have been arrested in connection with the overnight massacre that left 13 Fulanis including two children dead last week.
The Northern Region Police Command says the suspects include six Konkomba and one Dagomba.
Regional Commander, ACP George Tuffour told Joy News one other suspect, Ebenezer Womde, a Kokomba who was picked up earlier is still in custody in Gushiegu whilst the seven will be sent to Tamale for interrogation.
