Management and staff of GCB Bank Limited (GCB) at the weekend embarked on a health walk in the Western Regional capital, Takoradi, to sensitize workers on the need to adopt healthy lifestyles.
This is the second time the Bank has embarked on such a health walk within the past six months. The first health walk of the Bank took place in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.
Led by members of the Executive Management of the Bank, the walk brought together about 300 participants from Takoradi and Cape Coast zones of the Bank for the five-kilometer walk which commenced at the Takoradi Main branch of the Bank, near the Liberation Circle and ended at the Takoradi Air Force Officers Mess after about two and half hours of walk and aerobics.
A contingent of the Second Infantry Brigade of the Ghana Armed Forces provided technical and medical support. The walk was accompanied with brass-band music which made it an enjoyable, exciting and successful exercise.
Members of the Western Regional Press Corps joined the staff of the Bank for the walk.

Addressing the participants, the Cape Coast/Takoradi Regional Manager of the Bank, Mr. Martin Abofra described banking as a stressful job and advised bankers to make physical exercise a priority.
He said due to the sedentary nature of banking a lot of bankers are likely to be exposed to one lifestyle-related disease or another.
Mr. Abofra emphasised the need for monthly check-ups and regular exercises in order to maintain good health.
Top Management members of the Bank who participated in the Walk include Mr. Samuel Amankwah, Chief Internal Auditor, Mrs. Doris Wunu, Head of Consumer Banking, Mrs. Thyra Obuobi, Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations and Mr. Francis B. Danyi, Head of Human Resource Department.
