The Ghana Football Association has officially launched the GFA Foundation, a charity wing, with the vision of being the 'the best football for good association in social investment and sustainability practise'.
The foundation, which also has a mission of 'positively impacting lives of people through the support of national and international development initiatives and goals', was launched at the football association's headquarters in Accra.
A five-member board has been set in place to oversee its operations which includes the provision of welfare support to footballers and football officials.
The foundation also has a target on community development through health and education, provision of assistance to under privileged people and groups.
Its five-member board is chaired by Daniel Ewuah Darko, a chartered insurer with over 30-years of experience in the Insurance industry.
Isaac Osei Yeboah will serve as it's vice chair, while Sylvia Owusu Ankomah, Frederick Acheampong and ex-midfielder, Odartey Lamptey have been inaugurated as board members.
Malcom Frazier Appeadu, a marketing, corporate social responsibility, corporate communications, project management, community relations, events and stakeholder management expert, has been appointed as foundation director.
GFA president, Kurt Okraku, emphasised the foundation is the surest way for the FA to look beyond football.
"The Ghana Football Association maintains that for the ultimate goal of football for development, there should be a deliberated, concerted effort in this regard.
"It is against the background the football association is establishing the GFA Foundation, as a single purpose vehicle to drive all GFA related CSR activities in the country and beyond."
