Head of Religious Broadcast at Multimedia Group Limited and regular preacher on Adom FM, Rev. Yaw Owusu Ansah says his life has been threatened following his sermon on Wednesday morning disapproving of Ghana’s successive governments’ desire to contract loans. He believes it is needless.
Speaking on Adom Dwaso Nsem on Thursday with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, the Reverend Owusu Ansah said he has received text messages from some unidentified persons warning him to watch his comments or his life will be at risk.
The man of God who described himself as a radical, said he stands by his sermon, explaining that he is not perturbed by the threat on his life because what he preached was not targeted a particular government but was referring to successive governments since independence.
Owusu Ansah in his preaching on Wednesday on the Adom Ahengua programme said contracting of loans for the country is needless and that Ghanaians should not continue to expect ‘mana” from other countries. He said it is about time governments looked for alternative ways to solve the country’s problems because the loans will be paid by future generations by which time those who contracted the loans would have been dead.
The comments by the man of God did not go down well with supporters of the ruling government who thought his comments were calculated at casting a slur on President Mills present engagement with Asian bigwigs China and Japan canvassing for financial support and investments.
An NDC activist Sam Atieke popularly known as Dr. Faifa launched a blistering attack on Rev Owusu Ansah, describing his comments as a propaganda agenda meant to demean the billions of investments that President Mills is bringing into Ghana from his trip.
