The Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has called on Ghanaians to reject politicians advocating violence in their campaigns leading to election 2008.
He said such politicians do not have any thing good to offer the nation and advised members of political parties, especially their leaders and other stakeholders to conduct their activities in a civil manner, devoid of rancour and violence.
Bishop Asante was preaching at a thanksgiving service to mark his induction into office as the new Bishop of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, in Kumasi on Sunday.
He advised the electorate to desist from selling their conscience to politicians who might influence them with gifts to vote for them.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Asante urged Christians to bring their expertise, knowledge and experience to bear on activities of the Church to enhance its growth.
He said that God has given every Christian talents and gifts which could be used in helping the Church to salvage society from evil deeds.
The Very Rev. Samuel Fred Ansuh, Superintendent Minister of the Kumasi Circuit of the Church, called on members of the religious body to support Bishop Asante to enable him to discharge his responsibilities effectively.
