Ghana's Black Stars opened a three-point lead in Group I following a 1-0 win over Mali on matchday 8 of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Defender Alexander Djiku scored in the 49th minute to hand Otto Addo’s men victory at the Accra Sports Stadium to keep the Black Stars in pole position to qualify for the World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada next year.

The Black Stars will reconvene in October for the final round of qualifying matches against Central African Republic and Comoros. A win and draw will secure qualification to the mundial.
