The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert warning of a developing rainstorm expected to hit several parts of the country this afternoon into the evening.
According to the Agency, the storm, which is intensifying over the Gulf of Guinea and propagating westwards, will produce thunderstorms and rains of varying intensities across marine areas, coastal and inland communities.
GMet noted that areas to be affected between 12:00 pm and 4:30 pm (1200 – 1630 UTC) include Anloga, Afife, Ada Foah, Prampram, Sege, Tema, Accra, Kasoa, Dodowa, Kete Krachi, Dambai, Worawora, Jasikan, Prestea, Yeji, Obuasi, Kumasi, Nsawam and their surroundings.
A second wave is expected between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm (1500 – 2000 UTC) over Winneba, Mankessim, Jukwa, Swedru, Cape Coast, Sekondi-Takoradi, Half Assini, Tarkwa, Benso and their surrounding areas.
The Agency cautioned that moderate winds are likely to accompany the storm, especially over the ocean, and warned that localised flash floods are possible in low-lying areas.
Residents in the affected areas have been urged to take precautionary measures to avoid accidents and property loss.
