The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert indicating that thunderstorms and rain of varying intensities are expected across parts of the country later today.
According to the agency, the southern part of the country will experience mostly cloudy conditions with intermittent sunny periods during the afternoon, while the northern part is expected to remain largely sunny.
However, from late afternoon into the evening, thunderstorms or rain are anticipated over parts of the coastal, middle, transition, and northern sectors.

This forecast comes in the wake of devastating floods over the weekend, which resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of properties, particularly in Accra.
On Sunday, May 18, a heavy downpour lasting nearly three hours caused severe flooding in several parts of the capital.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Ella Esiman Nongo, confirmed that three people, including a four-year-old girl, died in separate incidents in Lakeside, Nanakrom, and New Legon.

The flooding submerged major roads, left commuters stranded, and caused significant property damage in areas such as Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Adenta-Dodowa, and Tema. Overflowing stormwater channels, including the Odaw drain, exacerbated the situation.
