The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an impact-based weather update warning of localised rainstorms and thunderstorms expected to affect parts of the country on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
According to the agency, some localised rainstorms have already developed and are currently producing thunderstorms and varying intensities of rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.
The advisory, issued at 1530UTC and valid from 1550UTC, indicates that the Volta and Eastern Regions, as well as parts of the Greater Accra Region, will be affected between 1530UTC and 1900UTC.
GMet’s nowcasting risk assessment places the affected areas under a “Be Aware” to “Take Action” category in the immediate hours, with a moderate risk level (E) expected within the first two hours.
The risk is projected to reduce gradually later in the period.
The agency noted that the stormy conditions are likely to persist into the evening hours, potentially extending to more areas along the coastline, slightly north of the coast, and parts of the middle sector of the country.
