Ghanaian reggae/dancehall icon Samini has secured five nominations at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, reinforcing the strong impact of his ORIGIN8A era and the continued relevance of the veteran artiste in Ghana’s music industry.
The nominations are from two singles released from his eighth studio album ORIGIN8A during the awards year under review.
Samini’s nominations are as follows:
• Record of the Year – "CHAANA"
• Best Music Video – "CHAANA"
• Best Reggae/Dancehall Song – "SUMMER KING"
• Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste
• Audio Engineer of the Year – "CHAANA" (Produced by Francis Kweku Osei)

"CHAANA", the lead single from the ORIGIN8A album, was released on March 13, 2025, and has since grown into a widely celebrated Pan-African anthem. The song features the internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir and blends Afro-pop and African dancehall influences with a powerful message of African pride and resilience.
"SUMMER KING", which was released on July 24, 2025, as the album’s second single, has also gained strong traction among reggae and dancehall lovers, earning its place among the year’s standout songs in the genre.
The Audio Engineer of the Year nomination for Francis Kweku Osei highlights the technical excellence behind "CHAANA", acknowledging the production quality and sonic depth that helped shape the song’s distinctive sound.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards, formerly known as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, is Ghana’s most prestigious music awards scheme. Organised annually by Charterhouse Productions, the awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the Ghanaian music industry across multiple genres and technical disciplines.
Samini’s multiple nominations this year reflect the influence of the ORIGIN8A project, which serves as a symbolic homecoming for the artiste and features collaborations with several artistes he mentored earlier in their careers, including Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, Kaakie and Mugeez.
With its blend of African dancehall, Highlife, Afrobeats, Afropop, Amapiano and reggae elements, ORIGIN8A continues to showcase Samini’s artistic evolution while remaining rooted in the sound that helped define his legacy.
As the countdown to the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards begins, fans and supporters of Samini’s music will be watching closely to see how the nominations translate into wins on the night.
