There has been lots of debate regarding the issue of gospel musicians performing at nightclubs since which some claim is the best place to win souls for Christ.

Whilst some gospel musicians think there is nothing wrong performing at nightclubs with the sole aim of winning souls for Christ, others strongly believe that the nightclub is not the only venue to preach the gospel.

“Change Over” singer Mary Agyemang has joined her colleagues who think there is nothing wrong for gospel musician to perform at a nightclub.

Speaking to Zionfelix prior to her album launch slated for Sunday, October 23 at the Yagola Hotel in Kumasi, she opined that as a gospel musician, one should be ready to perform at all events when invited as it presents an opportunity to spread the word of God.

“We are to go anywhere and preach the gospel so I’ll go. If I don’t go to the nightclub, who will be there to deliver the message to them.

"I always say that we should not be hypocrites. Will you be tagged as a sinner if you perform at nightclub?," she quizzed.

"We always want to preach at churches so how will the sinners outside the church know Christ. The Bible even tells us to go everywhere on this planet to preach the gospel but didn’t say only the church,” she added.

Mary Agyemang stressed that “if you won’t go and preach to them [people in nightclubs], who should go there? They [gospel musicians who won't go to nightclubs] are being hypocrites. If you tell me you won’t go there you are a hypocrite because you do not know the lifestyle of the person at church you are always preaching to.”

Ohemaa Mercy in September was reported to have said that she will never perform at a nightclub no matter the amount of money she is given because she feels that isn’t the only place to reach out to them.
