The government has donated the sum of GHS10,000 to support the treatment of hospitalised victims of Tuesday's tragic accident that claimed 27 lives at Senya Beraku in the Central region.
The victims were among revelers who lined the streets singing joyous songs when a water tanker allegedly lost its breaks and ran through them, killing the number and leaving several others with fractured bodies, broken limbs and contusions.
Vice President John Dramani Mahama who paid a visit to the victims on admission at the Winneba Government Hospital, announced the donation and rallied the National Disaster Management Organisation to go to the aid of the victims and their families in any way they could.
The government has absorbed the hospital bills of the victims.
Vice President Mahama, who was accompanied by Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe, expressed the government’s condolence to the bereaved families and victims. See photos in our galleries
Speaking to Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng, Dr. George Prah of the Winneba Government Hospital said those on admission were responding to treatment, adding that “though there were shortage of drugs at a point in time to cater for the victims, NADMO did well in bringing us enough drugs to continue with the treatment of patients.”
