Sheikh Amin Bonsu, Chief Executive of the Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital, has called on government to ensure the promotion of orthodox and traditional medical practice.
He said that both areas of the practice were relevant for the development of health delivery in the country.
Sheikh Bonsu, in an interview with GNA, in Accra on Wednesday, said some Ghanaians relied on either medical doctors or herbalists for health delivery.
He advised traditional herbal practitioners to upgrade their skills with modern science and technologies to enable them to perform effectively.
Sheik Bonsu asked them to prepare their medicines under hygienic and clean conditions.
He appealed to the Ministry of Health to employ qualified herbal practitioners in public medical institutions including hospitals sto ensure a balanced national healthcare programme since many rural dwellers in the country relied on herbal medicine.
