Bismark Teye made an instant impact on his Ghana Premier League debut for Basake Holy Stars, scoring an 87th-minute equalizer in their thrilling 1-1 draw with Aduana FC in a Match Week fixture.
Teye, who joined Basake Holy Stars from Real Academikals FC during the January transfer window, had a remarkable debut despite not having played a competitive match for his former club.
Prior to joining Real Academikals, Teye had been with Akropong United, but the team failed to participate in this season's Division 2 league.
This turn of events led him to move to Real Academikals, although he never played a match for them before securing the opportunity to join Basake Holy Stars for a trial.
After impressing the club’s coaching staff, Teye was registered for the second round of the GPL and was named in the matchday squad for the fixture against Aduana FC.
He came on as a substitute in the 75th minute, and within minutes, he made his presence felt by scoring the equalizer, ensuring Basake Holy Stars earned a valuable point.
“I was so happy to be making my debut in the GPL after a long wait. I’m really excited that my debut came with a goal that was an equalizer for the team. At least my goal helped secure a point for the club,” Teye said after the match.
He also extended his gratitude to his teammates and the technical staff.
“I want to say a big thank you to my teammates and the technical team for embracing me warmly since I joined the club. That has made me feel at home, and hopefully, we can achieve more together.”
Teye's impressive debut showcases his potential, and fans will be eager to see how he develops at Basake Holy Stars as the season progresses.
