Basake Holy Stars continued their impressive run of form with a convincing 2–0 victory over former champions FC Samartex on matchday 14 of the Ghana Premier League at the AAK II Sports Arena.
Fresh from a confidence-boosting win over Asante Kotoko and a hard-earned draw against league leaders Aduana FC, Holy Stars approached the contest with belief and intensity and they were rewarded early.
Simba Sylvester was the standout performer on the day, scoring twice in the first half to put the hosts firmly in control.
His opener settled the nerves of the home side before he doubled the advantage later in the half, capitalising on sustained pressure and positive attacking play.
Samartex, who had also come into the game in decent form, struggled to cope with Holy Stars’ energy and organisation, particularly in midfield.
Despite efforts to respond after the break, they were unable to find a way past a disciplined Holy Stars defence.
The win underlines Basake Holy Stars’ status as one of the most in-form teams in the league at the moment, having now recorded three victories in their last five matches while losing just once.
