A Ghanaian family and some philanthropists based in Canada have stepped in to help the 10-year old amputee girl whose story was carried on various Multimedia platforms early on in the year.
Emmanuel Ansa-Sam, his wife and children have donated a wheel chair, toilet facility designed for the physically challenged, clothes and other rehabilitation items for the upkeep of Leticia Aduako.
They say they were touched by her story which they read on the internet.
Life turned sour for little Leticia Aduako when her lower limbs had to be severed after they were crushed by a vehicle driven by an unqualified person.
Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital abandoned other duties to attend to Leticia when she was rushed there following the accident in 2008.
The medical team were surprised the then Primary Five school girl survived both the accident and surgery.
But life after the accident has often been described as hell by Leticia’s parents who abandoned her at the hospital because of her physical deformities.
They could not hold back their grief any time they saw their once able-bodied idol daughter, now almost totally incapacitated for the rest of her life.
The parents’ agony was compounded by the failure of police at Konongo to prosecute Akwasi Appiah, the unqualified driver whose misjudgment cost Leticia her legs.
