Ho university admits first batch of students

The University for Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, has begun admission of its first batch of 200 students to the various degree programs in health. The university has eight schools namely, School of Medicine, School of Biomedical sciences, School of Public Health, School of Nursing and Midwifery. The rest are Schools of Allied Health sciences, Dentistry, Pharmacy as well as Sports and Exercise. Authorities say the university will provide students with the requisite skills in community health service and problem-solving techniques which are the core parts of the curriculum. Each student will be required to spend six to eight weeks out of every long vacation in a district hospital or a health centre in order to acquaint themselves with challenges rural folks face. Administrators say,they hope products of the university will help in minimizing the numerous health problems in the country.
