Mrs Agnes Chigabatia, outgoing Deputy Upper East Regional Minister and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Builsa North, at the weekend said though her party lost in Election 2008 she would remain in politics.She explained that NPP’s defeat was part of politics and democracy, and would return to politics during the next general elections.Mrs Chigabatia was speaking at a thanksgiving dinner dance at Bolgatanga for supporters and sympathisers of the party.She said her intention was to work harder in her political career and with the experience acquired aim at serving in a higher political position in future.Mrs Chigabatia expressed appreciation to staff of Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) especially Mr Samuel N'lary, Chief Director, organisations, institutions and individuals who contributed to the successful running of her administration for their diligence and hard work.Mrs Margaret Issaka of Centre for Sustainable Development Initiatives (CENSUDI), an NGO promoting gender equity, commended Mrs Chigabatia for the professional manner exhibited during her tenure of office.She said Mrs Chigabatia was a role model to women in the Region and urged women to emulate her to climb higher the political ladder to bridge the gender gap.Madam Alima Musah, defeated NPP parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga Constituency, expressed appreciation to Mrs Chigabatia for supporting and encouraging her during the campaign adding ”you have been my role model”.Source: GNA
