The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union is demanding the reinstatement of five workers of a food processing company in Asamankese in the Eastern region.

The ICU says Dinora Limited breached procedure in terminating the workers’ appointments.

Head of the Professional and Managerial Staff Unions Department Samuel Larnyoh told Joy News management of the company has been uncooperative with its attempt to settle the issue amicably.

“We have procedures that must be followed in terminating the appointment of workers [but] we realized that management did not follow the procedures at all,” he said.

Mr Larnyoh stated that if the company decides that it will not re-engage the workers, it has to pay severance packages to them.

He said the ICU will be forced to haul the company before the labour commission if management remains adamant.

Managing Director of the Company Shane Forrest says he did nothing wrong in termination the appointments of the workers.
