President John Mahama has announced that he will submit the final batch of his ministerial appointments this week.
According to the President, the list will include four deputy ministers, bringing the total number of ministers to 60, in line with his commitment to a lean government.
This will complement the 56 ministers he has already appointed.
"This week, I will submit the final list of four deputy ministers to achieve the full complement of sixty ministers that we promised," he said, following the swearing-in of another set of ministers and deputy ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday.
He also expressed his gratitude to the legislature for smoothly approving all his nominees thus far. "We have achieved the earliest approval of ministers by Parliament under the Fourth Republic, enabling them to begin work on rolling out our commitments to Ghana. I wish to thank Mr. Speaker and the honourable members of Parliament for their support."
Before becoming president, Mr Mahama promised to create a lean government to drastically reduce government expenditure and redirect funds towards the country's development, ensuring the benefits reach the masses.
He pledged to appoint no more than 60 state ministers, in contrast to the previous NPP government, which had over 100 state ministers.
He has since appointed 56, with the final four yet to be announced.
