The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, has led his management team on a working visit to the Tema Oil Refinery Ltd. (TOR) to assess progress towards the refinery’s resumption of operations.
The visit formed part of ongoing regulatory engagement aimed at supporting TOR’s revival and ensuring that operational, safety and compliance requirements are aligned with national standards.
It also highlighted the strong collaboration between the regulator and the refinery in advancing Ghana’s downstream petroleum agenda.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Tameklo reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to supporting TOR’s return to full and sustainable operations.
“The revival of TOR is a strategic national priority, and the Authority remains committed to providing the necessary regulatory support to ensure that operations resume in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner,” he said.
Management of TOR briefed the NPA delegation on the current state of readiness, progress made on rehabilitation works and key timelines towards restarting operations.
They expressed appreciation for the consistent engagement and technical guidance from the NPA throughout the revival process.
Under Mr Tameklo’s leadership, the NPA has played a key role in TOR’s recovery journey, offering regulatory oversight and institutional support.
Stakeholders say the continued collaboration is critical to strengthening Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry and reducing the country’s reliance on imported refined petroleum products.
