The Ministry of the Interior has announced the renewal of curfew hours for the Chereponi Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region.
The curfew, which was renewed through an Executive Instrument, from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. will be in effect from Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Minister of the Interior, Henry Quartey.
The statement urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint in the face of ongoing challenges.
The Minister also encouraged the community to use non-violent means to work towards peace in the region.
Additionally, the statement reiterated that there is a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in Chereponi and its environs.
"Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted," the statement warned.
