The Kofi Asimenu Foundation, in collaboration with the 153 Armoured Regiment, has commissioned its first project - a state-of-the-art multipurpose sports court at the Mounted Squadron.
This initiative, undertaken in honour of the late Ernest Kofi Asimenu, celebrates his enduring legacy of leadership, kindness, and inspiration.
The commissioning ceremony, held on January 3, 2025, was graced by dignitaries, family members, and esteemed guests, including Brigadier General W. Dzandu-Hedidor, who served as the Guest of Honour and officially inaugurated the facility.
The event featured a sod-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, symbolically dedicating the facility to the memory of Ernest Kofi Asimenu.
This project reflects the foundation’s broader mission to honour its legacy by fostering healthier communities.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the Kofi Asimenu Foundation is deeply committed to raising awareness about diabetes—a condition that significantly impacted the life of Ernest Kofi Asimenu.
The foundation’s initiatives aim to educate communities about early diagnosis, healthy living, and support for individuals and families affected by the disease.
“The court is not just a sports facility but a call to action,” said Dr Ernest Kafui Asimenu, Executive Director of the Foundation.
“It reminds us of the importance of staying active, fostering community spirit, and addressing health challenges like diabetes that affect so many lives. Through awareness campaigns and community engagements, the foundation will continue to honour my father’s legacy by advocating for healthier lifestyles.”
The multipurpose court is designed to promote physical fitness, a key component in diabetes prevention and management.
The commissioning event showcased the court’s versatility with exhibition matches in volleyball, basketball, and badminton, highlighting its potential to foster community bonding and talent development.
The foundation also announced plans for future initiatives aimed at uplifting lives through health, education, and sports development.
These projects will be community-centered, emphasizing unity, empowerment, and overall well-being.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and a prayer, underscoring the importance of shared responsibility in making a difference.
The multipurpose court stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Ernest Kofi Asimenu and the foundation’s commitment to positively impacting lives for generations to come.
