Lawyers of Dr. Tweneboah Senzu, Managing Director of Bastiat Society-Ghana, have debunked reports in the media suggesting that their client was arrested for defrauding one Seth Ohene of GH₵ 22,516.
They suspect detractors of the leader of the economic think tank are behind the publications meant to deliberately to dent his credibility.
The media reports had claimed Dr. Senzu allegedly defrauded Seth Ohene, Manager of Janeseth Agro- chemicals of GH₵ 22,516 in a cocoa fertilizer deal in 2012 and was arrested on his way to Western region to train the newly employed Bastiat Staff.
It said the case was taken to court in July 2013, but the suspect failed to appear before it and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
However, a five-member team of lawyers including Mr. Raymond Akapastis and Mr. Baffour Dwuma, Legal Consultant in a statement denied the allegation. It stated categorically that no competent court of law has a link with the publication and dared those behind the story to identify themselves.
According to the lawyers, their findings revealed that no charge sheet of a fraudulent case has been brought against Dr. Senzu before Takoradi Circuit Court A, as it was alleged in the media reports.
The statement also mentioned a conflict between Dr. Senzu and some past executive members of the Chamber of Commerce of Sekondi-Takoradi.
The conflict arose when Dr. Senzu stood up against their abuse of power during their period as executives of the Chamber, which he said was against the society constitution order.
