The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Bernice Makafui Brempong as its new Chief Executive Officer.
She takes over from Mr, Yofi Grant, whose tenure ended on December 30, 2024.
A statement issued by the Centre said Dr. Brempong brings extensive experience in business development, healthcare, and strategic partnerships to the role.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Ghana’s School of Pharmacy, a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from University College London, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Although trained as a pharmacist, Dr. Brempong has showcased her entrepreneurial skills by founding and leading a diverse portfolio of successful companies in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and commodity sectors, significantly impacting Ghana’s socio-economic landscape.
Before her appointment to GIPC, Dr. Brempong served as the Chief Executive Officer of Makhealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and has held leadership roles at Synergy Commodities Ltd. and D-Amphora Ltd.
The statement mentioned that Dr. Brempong, a strong advocate for the growth of Ghana’s health economy, considered attracting health-related investments crucial for achieving sustainable economic development.
She expressed her commitment to working with stakeholders to enhance Ghana’s business environment and further solidify the country’s position as a leading investment destination.
Dr. Brempong also emphasized her intention to build on the achievements of her predecessor and drive more growth and investment into Ghana.
