Paul Asempa, alias Alan Kwesi, 37, on Tuesday appeared before a Ho High Court for allegedly murdering one Mawuli Tovor.
His plea was not taken and was remanded until Tuesday, February 08, this year.
Presenting the facts to Court after the official opening of the criminal assizes, Mr Simon Adatsi, a State Attorney said Asempa, a Farmer lives at Kpalime-Duga.
He said in March 2007, Asempa attended a wake-keeping at Kpalime Tsate during which he was found caressing and fondling a 22-year old married woman.
Mr Adatsi said Tovor not pleased with Asempa’s actions in the full glare of the public asked him to stop since the woman was married.
He said Asempa took offence and pushed Tovor to the ground and bit one of his fingers which resulted in a struggle between them.
Mr Adatsi said the two were separated but Asempa left for a nearby house and came back with a cutlass threatening to slash Tovor into bits but was prevented.
He said after the truce, he (Asempa) went home and returned with a knife and stabbed Tovor several times at the back, neck and head.
Mr Adatsi said Tovor fell instantly and died few minutes later.
He said having realised his offence, Asempa, hid the blood stained knife and went into hiding.
Mr Adatsi said Police at Kpalime-Duga were informed about the incident and with the assistance of people in the community arrested Asempa.
He said a post mortem conducted indicated that Tovor died out of deep knife wounds.
