Ghanaian midfielder Musah Mohammed has revealed that a potential move to Turkish giants Besiktas broke down early in his career due to financial demands made by his agent.
Speaking to Joy Sports, the 23-year-old said the failed transfer happened when he was still a teenager trying to break into Turkish football, during a period when he trialled with several clubs, including Fenerbahce.
At the time, Mohammed said he had little influence over the negotiations since he was inexperienced and relied on his agent.
“The trials at Fenerbahce is kind of difficult, but for Beşiktaş, it was successful. They liked me, but, you know, but there was some misunderstanding between the club and my agent,” he said.
Asked how he felt when the deal collapsed, the Bodrum midfielder admitted, “I was kind of a little bit down because such a big club, if they like you, I think it's a good thing. But what can I do, nothing, because that's the beginning of my career, so I just let everything pass.”

Mohammed began his football journey with lower-tier Ghanaian side Bectero before moving to Turkey, where he trialled with several top clubs at a young age.
He started his professional career at Ankaraspor, later joining Eyüpspor, before signing with Bodrum FK.
The Nkawkaw-born midfielder enjoyed a breakout season in the Turkish Super Lig last term, making 25 appearances and contributing four assists, as Bodrum competed in their debut top-flight campaign.
