The Egyptian pair of Ali Zaghloul and Sherif Makhlouf have been crowned champions of the 2025 Padel Accra Open international tournament.
They beat Spain’s Alfonso Velasco and Najib Fakih of Lebanon, who is based in Côte d’Ivoire, in straight sets in the final on Sunday night at the S2 Sports Complex in Spintex, Accra. The tournament climaxed the Ghana padel season.
Zaghloul and Makhlouf had pledged on the opening day of the seven-day event to win the title and delivered, taking home an amount of money and winner’s plaques.

Makhlouf said the duo were impressed by the atmosphere throughout the tournament.
“A club like that helps us to perform better. Everything about the club is amazing, the organisation, the support, everything. All such things help us to perform better.
“I feel very happy to win this tournament.”
As runners-up, Velasco and Fakih also received an amount of money and plaques after a strong showing.
Kingsley Alormenu and Benjamin Tukpeyi claimed the men’s P50 category title, earning a cash prize and plaques.
In the women’s category, Ana Guersi and Yasmine Odaymat emerged champions, with Guersi expressing optimism about returning for a bigger challenge next year.
“This time it was magical, and we had a great time. We thank everyone that made it possible.
“We hope to have more tournaments like this next year. It was mind-blowing. We stayed here the whole day, so it was great. Amazing, the club is really amazing.”
President of the Professional Padel Association of Ghana, Jean-Noel Said, promised a more expanded and competitive event next year.
“They were amazing. We hope that we made it fun for them, comfortable for them, and well organised, so that next year they can come back.
“Next year it’s going to be a bit different because we have the Professional Padel Association, with many clubs opening in Ghana.
“So now the Professional Padel Association will have a tournament season that will go from club to club throughout the year, which is the first time this will happen, and we are very excited about it.
“We’re looking forward to it, and hopefully everything will run smoothly. We hope the competitors and the players will enjoy it.”
Players who featured in the Ghana Padel League across various categories were also presented with medals and prizes.
Organisers confirmed that from November 2026, the Padel Accra Open will be an International Padel Federation Bronze Tour event, offering ranking points and international exposure for emerging players.
