The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, says Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as "Napo," should moderate his communication style.
He noted that since politicians serve the people, being perceived as arrogant undermines effective service, hence a politician's tone should reflect humility.
Since the NPP's presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia selected Dr Prempeh as his running mate, a section of Ghanaians has raised concerns about his attitude, with many accusing him of being arrogant.
The popular remark is when he challenged individuals advocating for the issuance of a load-shedding timetable by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to publish their own proposed schedules amid the power crisis earlier this year.
Another was his statement in 2021, in which he threatened to lead a demo in the Ashanti Region should the Keta Sea Defense Project be captured in the 2022 budget.
“You would not get someone who is an arrogant person to come and serve you, so that, for me, is the troubling bit about somebody being labelled as arrogant.”

Mr Ricketts-Hagan stated that while humility among political leaders has not necessarily benefited Ghanaians, arrogance isn't the solution either.
He emphasised that both humility and arrogance are conveyed through communication.
“Look, my cousin, Mercer said something about what Napo said about this energy issue, and he puts it so well, but what he said is exactly what Napo said, and it became a problem that if you think there is dumsor, do your timetable”.
