The initiative, unveiled by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, seeks to bring together board of directors and governance experts to deliberate on effective practices, oversight responsibilities, and strategic decision-making aimed at ensuring institutional accountability and profitability.
According to the organizers, boardroom governance involve a system of rules, practices, and processes through which an organization's board of directors oversees operations, makes decisions, and ensures compliance. The summit is expected to serve as a platform to share ideas, address administrative challenges, and promote best practices in boardroom leadership.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Debrah emphasized that good governance remains a cornerstone for building trust, attracting investment, and stimulating sustainable growth. He noted that the John Mahama-led administration is committed to refreshing every sector of the country's socio-economic framework to ensure growth and profitability.
"President Mahama intends that all the things that we've been doing, where we feel we are relaxing, we should reinvigorate it. And so we are mindful that various institutions are having orientation programmes for their board members," he stated.
He further encouraged public institutions to rally behind the summit’s vision and leverage it to adopt more a strategic, transparent, and impactful governance approaches.
“We encourage a lot of people to take part in this national summit where synergies will be drawn, where good lessons will be learned, where others will share international good practices which will enable you run your board effectively,” he added.
The summit is expected to become an annual platform to evaluate governance trends and empower board of directors to contribute meaningfully to national development.
