The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released guidelines for its parliamentary primaries ahead of the upcoming by-election in the Tamale Central Constituency in the Northern Region.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC outlined the processes aspirants must follow to participate in the contest.
This comes after the death of the constituency's legislator, Murtala Mohammed, who died in the tragic helicopter crash on August 6.
According to the party, nomination forms will be available at its Northern Regional Office, where completed documents are also expected to be submitted. A certified copy of the delegates list will be made available to all aspirants after the vetting process.
The statement further disclosed that each aspirant will pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢5,000. Additionally, a filing fee of GH¢40,000 is required, payable in cash only into the party’s official account at UMB Bank, Adabraka Branch.
However, female aspirants and persons with disabilities are entitled to a 50 percent reduction on the filing fee.
The party emphasized that cheques and bankers’ drafts would not be accepted. Instead, payments must be made directly into the designated account.
The NDC said an official timetable for the primaries has been attached and urged all aspirants and stakeholders to strictly adhere to the timelines outlined.
The party also called for unity, fairness, and decorum throughout the process.
