General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of trying to derail the voters' registration exercise.
According to him, though the exercise has largely been successful, the NDC has been busing non-Ghanaians and minors to take part in the exercise.
A situation which he says sometimes ends in heated arguments delays or disruption of the process.
Mr Boadu made the statement when he toured some registration centres in the Upper West Region.
Accompanied by Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih and some regional executives, the NPP General Secretary toured some registration centers in the region.
They visited some centers in the Wa Central, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa and Sissala East constituencies. Registration in all the centers visited were orderly.
The presiding officer of Guli Ga Muni registration center, Enbonzumah Gordon said they only had a large number of registrants in the early days which came with a lot of pressure. But the numbers have reduced gradually since then, said Gordon.
John Boadu was impressed with what he saw after interacting with the registration officials. He commended the leadership of the region especially political parties, religious leaders and security agencies for working to ensure that the process goes on without hitches.
He accused the opposition NDC of trying to derail the registration process by busing non Ghanaians to register at the centers to take part in the exercise.
